How we began...
Welcome to Karrimah Kennels! We know you have
done your research in your pursuit of a happy, healthy companion to join your family and we are
honored that you should be considering our kennels. Situated in Stafford, Virginia, we are close
to not only Washington DC, Maryland and Pennsylvannia but are also easy access from all over
Virginia, West Virginia and North Carolina. Please note, we do not ship puppies but are happy to
send a puppy back with you in the cabin, should you wish to fly. We primarily breed to produce
our next generation of show dogs but there are often puppies in every litter that are available
to approved pet homes. We also occassionally have older puppies or retired adults available and
strive to match the right dog to the right family. I have been showing and breeding dogs for 21
years, starting as a junior handler and when I moved to Virginia, my husband joined me in my
endeavor. We have been showing in the USA for eleven years and plan to continue for many years
to come.
Karrimah is an Australian Aborginal word
meaning "place of trees". It was an old prefix that was used for my Grandfather's merino sheep
that he showed in Australia and it only seemed natural to me that I should continue with this
name in his memory. The original Karrimah Farm still exists in Kulin, Western Australia and is
also being used by my mother for her chili sauce business. We are now located in Stafford,
Virginia, enjoying our life with our darling, royal spaniels.
Our cavaliers are first and foremost our pets,
sharing our house with our four children (ages 7yrs, 6 yrs, 3 yrs and 1 yr) cats and various
other animals. Although every litter we breed is with the purpose of finding our next show star
in the whelping box, we understand that most puppies end up going to new homes as beloved pets.
We do extensive medical testing to ensure the healthiest possible pets and breed to meet the
breed standards, as set forth by the American Kennel Club (AKC). We also put our puppies through
the superdog program, early housebreaking and early socialization to ensure a well rounded,
happy puppy that will have a very smooth transition into his or her new home. Though not all the
dogs we breed are destined to be champions like their parents, our pet quality puppies are by no
means inferior to the puppies we choose to keep in either health or temperament. These puppies
do often posses a minor cosmetic flaw that would not be visible to the untrained eye. For the
health of our cavaliers, we only have a few litters cavaliers for sale every year. The demand
for these puppies is very high and there is often a waiting list for these dogs. We do
occasionally have older puppies and adults available for adoption.
We travel to dog shows in Virginia, Maryland,
Pennslyvania and North Carolina, with the occassional specialty show that may be many states
away and love to catch up with and compete against our fellow breeders. We are happy to have
visitors to our home, by prior arrangement, so if you would like to meet our dogs just let me
know and we can set up a day. Take the time to browse our website and feel free to email me with
any questions you may have.
